The final race of the A.M. Road Running Series took place this past Sunday in Ta' Qali, where the Individual and Team Titles were decided after an exhilarating season of competition.
Lisa Bezzina of Pembroke Athleta cemented her place at the top of the standings, completing a clean sweep of the series by winning all six races. Her impressive victories earned her both the 5k and 10k National Championship titles. In the final 5k race of the season, Lisa crossed the finish line in a superb time of 18:03, finishing ahead of her teammate Rosalie Borg, who claimed second place with a time of 18:34. This result also secured Rosalie’s position as the runner-up in the overall standings for the series.
In the Clubs’ Championship, the Pembroke Athleta Ladies Team displayed unmatched dominance throughout the series. The team, consisting of Lisa Bezzina, Rosalie Borg, Ritianne Zammit, Danica Bonello Spiteri, and Chanelle Bezzina, claimed the Club Championship Title with undeniable consistency and strength, leaving their competitors in their wake.
In the men's 5k race, Mark Herrera was the fastest Pembroke finisher, securing an 8th place finish with a time of 15:42. Nigel Puli also put in a strong performance, finishing in 13th place with a time of 16:17.
The future is bright for Chanelle Bezzina, who not only excelled in the series but was also the first Under-18 Female finisher in the final 5k race, clocking an impressive 22:56.
